Donna Bell

I came to St. Louis Power House Church when I realized I had reached rock bottom.  I had several good paying jobs, considered myself fairly well-educated and lived comfortably with my son in a pretty decent neighborhood.  Sadly, because I chose to use drugs excessively, I lost everything.  I started smoking weed and progressively ventured into other mind altering drugs; to name a few, PCP, angel dust and crack cocaine.

The result of these choices destroyed everything I worked so hard to obtain.  In my state of depression and despair, I had the opportunity to hear a testimony during a Power House fundraiser of how God had saved him from drug addiction.  I finally made a decision to come to the Women’s home.  Ever since August 4, 1993, the testimony that was given to me by that individual has now become a reality in my life.

I came in the home addicted to crack cocaine, separated from my son and I was a woman who had been divorced twice.  I was lonely, confused, mean and addicted to doing wrong.  In the home, I learned how to pray, worship, study God’s word and work hard.  I was taught how to believe God and build character through obedience.  Because of God’s love, His supernatural power and applying God’s word, my life has totally changed.

Today I can say I am drug free, free of cigarettes, alcohol and immoral acts.  God is so good!  I got my son back and now he is married and a father of two beautiful daughters.  God has blessed me with a wonderful husband and a lovely daughter who also just had a precious little girl.  In other words, I came in messed up by myself and the Lord has brought increase.  I am so happy and it is because God put back together what I destroyed….MY LIFE.  Oh by the way, the misery that was destined to destroy my life has now become my ministry with the help of Jesus Christ and the Power House family. I am currently the Director of the Women’s Home.  GOD IS SO FAITHFUL.

If you are in need of a life changing experience, I suggest you seek Jesus Christ for your fresh start.  I encourage you to make a conscious decision to let Power House be the place you run to.  I am a living testimony that if you believe, Jesus can change you.  You can receive that which you believe.

Johnny Bell

I was a drug addict (with crack cocaine as my drug of choice) and an alcoholic.  I inherited alcoholism from my mother and father – both were alcoholics.

Living in a home where both parents were alcoholics wasn’t easy on a child.  I was subjected to alcohol at age 7, introduced to marijuana and cigarettes at around age 10, from there PCP, acid and eventually crack cocaine.

This lifestyle was an open door for sexual predators.  Sad to say that my first sexual experience was by a family member, which left all kinds of emotional and mental scars that I tried to drown with more and more drugs and alcohol.  Living this life led me into loosing jobs, being homeless, eating out of trash cans, robbing, stealing, cheating, lying and conniving.

In May, 1992, the lady I was married to received a flyer from someone fundraising for SLPH Church.  She told me about the church and took me to talk to the Pastor.  The words he spoke fit my life.  I left and walked around the building three times and then went into the Men’s home.  I was 26 years old with only the clothes on my back and a lot of bad habits.

Now years later, I’ve remarried, have three beautiful grandchildren, a good relationship with my son and daughter-in-law and my wife and I are the Directors of the Men’s and Women’s Home.

I am also the assistant to my Pastor in running the daily duties of St. Louis Power House Church and coach of the SLPH Church Jr. Handball League.  The League consists of inner City youth in need of an alternative to the troubles that plague the streets of
St. Louis.

All the glory and honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
